Carpet Care

Caring for your carpets is important for your health and wellbeing. Carpets can host a range of bacteria, micro-organisms, common dirt and grime. Taking a few simple steps can make a real difference to the life of your carpets.

In order to care for your carpet you need to explore exactly what it is made up of, in order to understand how best to keep it clean and hygienic.  Most carpets made these days are constructed of synthetic fibres and are either cut pile or tufted.

Most carpets are made using large scale machines that produce  hundreds of square metres of carpets per day. Carpet fibres are usually made from synthetic fibres, namely polypropylene, polyester or nylon although natural fibres are sometimes used.

This is then woven onto a PVC or latex backing for durability. Carpet is installed over a padding which is normally made from a foam rubber.

We use and recommend EcoShield to protect your carpets from stains and other damage. Information on this product can be found here.   Follow the tips and tricks below to ensure that you take the very best care of your carpets:

  • Have your carpets cleaned on a yearly  basis to ensure they are clean and hygienic for your family's safety and health. Engage the services of a professional carpet cleaner to ensure that you receive the highest quality service and chemicals.
  • Clean up stains immediately, even if you have guests. This serves to minimise the damage  later. Use an absorbent towel to suck up all the excess fluids or pick up solids.
  • Only use colourfast cloths to clean up spills
  • Vacuum frequently to keep your carpets clean. This is very important for maintaining a high level of cleanliness and also prevents stains from appearing when dirt particles cling to carpet fibres creating stains.
